About us

SELSA celebrates the generosity and social nature of the Scots. We run two events a year – Burns dinner and dance, and St Andrews dinner and dance. The emphasis is on good fun and charity. We raise money at each event for a local cause – currently Maypole Project.

We enjoy welcoming new guests and members to our events. Please contact us to find out more. You don’t have to be Scottish – a love of good food and a willingness to try or admire Scottish Country Dancing are the only requirements!

SELSA was founded in 1914 to “promote friendship and goodwill amongst members and to instil and sustain the customs, traditions and history of Scotland by means of promoting and organising events and activities conducive thereto.” The words may have changed but the values and aims are still relevant today.

We are members of Kent Association of Scottish Societies.

How to book

You don't have to be a member of SELSA to attend an event. In fact, most people who come aren't members. If you would like to come along, please contact us and we will make the arrangements for you to attend and sit on a table with people who will welcome you.
